Weiling created Jenney's Journey, a collection of collages as part of her BFA thesis. It centers on Alan's mission to reclaim his forgotten memories. Alan wakes up as a robot with scattered memories in a world ravaged by the apocalypse. Throughout his journey, he meets various strangers who play a role in reshaping his identity.

My art is rooted in storytelling, memory, and emotion. I see life as a layered collage—built from personal experiences, challenges, and dreams—and my work reflects that. I explore themes of identity, imagination, and human connection through illustration, collage, and tactile forms. As a Gen Z artist shaped by digital culture and personal migration, I draw inspiration from online content, everyday life, and the emotional depth of transitional moments. My goal is to create work that feels both intimate and expansive, offering viewers a space to connect with their own stories while exploring the layered worlds I build. I believe art is not just something we see, but something we feel, and I want my work to reflect the complexity, resilience, and beauty of being human.
Concept
I firmly believe that a person's life is constructed from a multitude of memories. I chose collage as the medium for this project because I perceive the fragments of a collage as analogous to the memories of a person. Their experiences and interactions with others serve as tangible evidence of their existence. Each element in the collage represents a memory block, contributing to the creation of the story's world.
Alan, a character I conceived during middle school, was designed as a loyal robot housing a girl's soul within him. The story unfolds with a small robot, Alan, awakening amidst ruins, devoid of any recollections from the past. All it knows is its name and pieces of broken parts, offering clues to its history. The earth has healed itself, erasing traces of the past and leaving behind remnants of metals and structures that once existed. Lost and disoriented, Alan embarks on a journey to rediscover its memory.
